Ir Prof. Zhou, currently heads a spin-out company of University of Edinburgh. Prior to this, she developed sustainability function at Hong Kong Jockey Club. Shelley has over 15 years’ experience in environmental and carbon management consultancy, new energy and biotechnology and corporate sustainability in Hong Kong, China and Asia.
Shelley holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering from the National University of Singapore and is an adjunct associate professor at HKUST, where she has developed the carbon management course, which is the first and still the only curriculum available in Hong Kong.
Shelley has also been active in voluntary engagements with Government, NGOs and learned societies. She has been a member of HKSAR Government’s Environmental Campaign Committee Environmental Education and Community Action Projects Vetting Sub-committee since 2014 and is just appointed as a member of the Buildings Energy Efficiency Disciplinary Board Panel. She is currently a director of Hong Kong Association of Energy Engineers and a committee member of Hong Kong Institute of Engineers Environmental Division. She was a core member of the Hong Kong delegation to the UNFCCC, 13th Conference of Parties (‘COP13’) in Bali in 2007.
